Hi G33ks!
I have downloaded the latest version of the Miranda Instant Messenger. For those unfamiliar, it is a free (GNU Public License) multi-protocol instant messenger client that does AIM, Yahoo, MSN, IRC, ICQ, Jabber, and others. I have placed the JFW scripts for the program into "c:jaws510settingsenu". When I open the client (miranda32.exe), the script set doesn't get loaded (according to the response from "insert-q" when the contact list has focus). Also, the contact list window appears empty, even though I'm signed onto all my instant messengers. How do I populate the contact list?
All suggestions appreciated. See my profile for contact details.
Thanks,
-Dave H
It works just fine for me without scripts!
Hmm, thanks for sharing that. Maybe I'll remove the Miranda32 scripts; see what happens. Did youhave to do something special to get your contact list populated from the servers (AIM, YIM, etc)? Mine's empty, even though I have hundreds of contacts on the things.
Thanks,
-Dave H
Nope. Just make sure your status reads online for everything.
I've been considering trying Miranda, I've heard it's good. Haven't yet, though. Caitlin
Hey there, Craig.
Thanks for your suggestions. When last I started Miranda, I made sure all my instant messenger protocols said "online"; they do. The contact list appears empty, still. One odd thing: if I hit the context menu key, I end up doing the "rename" option for the selected contact. I can, then, see who my cursor's on, even though I cannot pc or JAWS cursor through the list and navigate through it as one would any other list or tree control. I've emailed Jim Grimsby (scripts' author) for further suggestions.

Hi!
If you figure it out, let me know. I abandoned this messenger also because I find not being able to see who is online and who isn't unacceptable.
Hmmm, Miranda works perfeclty for me without scripts. I did check the thing in the options to hide all of my offline contacts, so all I ever see are the online ones. I can find no explanation for why you can't see your contacts.
I also tried running Miranda without the scripts (removed "srmm.*" and "miranda32.*" from the script directory). Still nothing. I have set the Miranda contact list options to show only on-line contacts, and know that some contacts are on-line. What';s more: I opened the "real" AIM client, and found a new, empty buddy group called "miranda merged". I've removed it.
